SAPS TRAINED & EQUIPPED TO UTILIZE MICRODOT TECHNOLOGY

The SAPS National Head Office has this year instructed all Vehicle Identification sections in the country to officially use microdot technology as a way to identify stolen and recovered motor vehicles. The technology will empower the SAPS to identify stolen vehicle, as it is easy to use and incorruptible.

To date more than 11 000 police officials have been trained and equipped to use microdot technology in South Africa. SAPS have ordered 1116 microdot identification kits for the exhibit room of every police station in South Africa.

LEGISLATORS INCLUDE MICRODOT TECHNOLOGY

SAPS, BACSA (Business Against Crime SA) and the Department of Transport are preparing legislation on microdot technology for Motor vehicles, which is due to be published later this year.

The state legal advisors are currently drawing up the new Second Hand Goods Act, which will include the use of microdot technology to prevent stolen goods being re-introduced into the market.

INSURANCE INDUSTRY EMBRACES THE BENEFIT OF MICRODOT TECHNOLOGY

More than 12,000 stolen (and recovered) vehicles are destroyed annually by the SAPS because the police are unable to identify the owner of the vehicle. If these vehicles had been microdotted, not one would have been destroy and the economy spared the R1, 2 Billion loss. Underwriters and brokers are rapidly embracing the benefits of microdot technology and passing on premium discounts to their clients.

Microdot technology offers a significant deterrent to serious crime in SA, especially with house robberies, business robberies and vehicle robberies. Vehicles and property fitted with microdots are less desirable for thieves and those who receive stolen property.
